Hey guys,

I'm a high school student so what I'm asking is in an academic context. I generally don't do anyone many favours unless they're amongst my close friends. BUT. I'm quite intelligent and the entire grade has acknowledged that (I'm not trying to blow my own boat just keep reading XD). For that reason girls and guys alike come to me for help on subjects, homework etc. and I'm more then happy to help if I have the time. (If i don't i just say no). Is there any problem with that? At what point is it too much? This is one thing that I'm not really willing to relinquish because I actually genuinely enjoy helping people with work they are struggling with.

Find a reason for them to help you as well. The value you are giving should be similar to the value that you are receiving.

EX: A girl wants help with her math homework. Have her bring over a batch of brownies.

What I tend to do is if they need help I set the time and place. I'm in control of the entire situation.

It depends on what your outcome is. If you are trying to smash the hot girl from math class and you set the time and place to be at your house at 9pm that sounds alright to me.

I would also say that in general that if you ask for more you generally get more as well

Just don't go overly "alpha" with the time and place thing.

It's fine to be assertive, but respect other people's time as you respect your own. Well, a bit less, but not much.

I had an interesting time like this come up in the past week with one of my girls:

She lives across town and I always got to drive to pick her up. I don't mind and it really is worth the drive, but that is not the point. She told me she wanted to see me this week, I said yeah that would be cool, can you take a bus to meet me.

At first she was hesitant not knowing what to do and very reluctant. But I just said a simple okay. Now she is planning on making the trip by bus to see me. Give them the gift of earning you. If she pays a bus ride or a batch of brownies for you, she is going to enjoy you much more.

If you enjoy helping people I don't see what the issue is.

You're going to let "us" tell you what you're doing is too much when its actually something you enjoy doing? Live your own life.

Now if you feel like you are being taken advantage of thats a different story. I'm not even entirely sure that this qualifies to be on a forum post. This is a pick up forum.
