I am not sure why so many guys on here are against the use of alcohol when meeting women.

My general guidelines are as such:

-If the majority of the people around are drinking, then I drink.

-If the majority of people around me are not drinking, then I do not drink.

If you can game women while being sober or inebriated, I am confused as to what the big deal is if you can handle your alcohol.

If you are the one dude not drinking at the party or bar, it seems kinda of odd, especially to the people there.

I am really interested on where the idea to refrain from drinking comes from and why?

If you can game while drinking or without like in my case then its fine, you should not worry about that.
but this came a while ago and until now because guys that are new to game or do not have much experience on game
they rely on alcohol to give them that courage to go up to that hot girl and work the courage to talk to her.

also i see many guys that drink to the point that they do not remember the conversations they had.
if you want to be good at this you need to be in control of every action you are taking.
if you can't remember your conversations you cannot break down what you did good and what you did bad. sure you might get laid here and there alcohol just makes your night a big blur.

i do understand where you are coming from. i been to parties where everyone is drinking and you would be lame if you do not drink, but i just drink enough to hardly feel the buzz going also cause i drive and usually take people with me or there could be a possibility of me taking a girl home a DUI's are not cheap. nor safe.

Why does everybody think it is a big deal when I DON'T feel like drinking?

For me, i stopped it because I wanted to see if I could game raw and do it sober...I still buy diet coke and what not so it is not like i'm stood there drink free.

I am trying to be healthy and gym it now and drinking twice a week is going to effect my gains. I still want to pick up girls at night time (saves a ton of money in the process) - so what am I supposed to do?

I drink special occasions so I haven't quit per sei so don't label me as 'lame'.

To the OP, I challenge you to get the same results sober. If you can not, then you use it as a crutch, have confidence issues and that truly is the 'lame' thing deep down. Don't you think it's lame that 95% of the world need to rely on this over priced substance to meet a stranger? Think about that...

Each to their own, but I don't make threads dissing people that DO drink hence why my reply to this thread.

I can't speak for the rest of the forum, but I drink when I game... I just don't drink a lot.

The idea behind 'not drinking' - at least when you're learning is that it's liquid courage, and there's a fear of becoming dependent on alcohol to give you that courage. If you don't have it, you won't be able to approach... So you master approaching and picking up FIRST, then you can drink and do it.

The reason I try not to go overboard is based on sexual performance...

I almost always drink. I never get shitfaced though.

I've never been in the business of "following" the crowd to be honest. Someone has to be the one to drink first if no one is drinking. So i don't go in trying to do what everyone else is doing. Most times if I drink first in a room of people who aren't drinking, i'll get the room involved and then everyone is drinking.

However I personally only drink if i have no intentions of actively approaching women. For example: when I'm coaching. It slows my mind down and I just don't feel as "smooth", not that it matters though. All in all its about the vibe and state you project, so whether you're drunk, high, or on cough syrup its the state that gets you the girls. I just prefer a specific feeling when out talking to girls. And sober is the way I like to feel.

Many guys do use it as a crutch. I encourage the guys I work with NOT to drink until they make a few approaches first. That way you are prepared to approach women in situations that do not involve alcohol. Its liquid courage, it makes it easier. Some guys even drink before doing day game to lower their inhibitions.

If you can approach women without drinking then go ahead and drink, but if you find it difficult to approach sober, i'd suggest taking care of that before you use alcohol to solve your problem.

here are the reasons i could come up with

first, alcohol doesn't give me more balls. it makes me depressed and sleepy.
also, alcohol kills brain cells
also, most of the time I will be driving and I don't like DUIs
also, I hate the taste.
also, whenever I am told to drink, in my imagination i see this drunk guy who is being inappropriate and i dont like the idea of being drunk and inappropriate.
but the most important reason is the first one. it just doesn't work on me.
