Great post... I never really thought about it, but I kind of have the habit of doing this. It's nice to see it in words though because it helps to analyze and understand how and why it works. Again, great post.

I agree you should def hold some stuff back, but there is a huge amount of value, compliance and reciprocity to be gained by opening up early on as well.

Mods, stop thread jacking with pirate songs!!

*cough*Now back on topic.....
While I can see this being incredibly good, what about people who are naturally perceived as complex/hard to work out. Surely adding more to this will only make it worse?

Chief's song brought tears to my eyes I laughed so hard, haha! I <3 the South Park song too...

Ahem! Back to the discussion though, I'm totally down with the Pirate Chest theory, just as long as there's no hair chest blowing in the breeze...unless you're treasure is some uber fantastic chest hair that really sets girls off, hehe. I tend to display something during the initial contact that makes them really interested and then I hold back a bunch of other stuff and bring it out at various points and this keeps getting her more and more hooked as she gets deeper. It's more like Buried Pirate Treasure Map Theory (BPTMT) if you're really into fancy names and acronyms as you know I am!

Initial contact with her, be it the bar or in class, when you pick up your daily coffee from her in the morning, or wherever you meet her, you be all "Yo, check out this awesome pirate map I have!" which is basically what you're doing when you show her that you've got some interesting things about you; now she's interested and wants to see what else there is to you. So she keeps looking and the more she follows where the clues look, the more that she finds and she keeps following the map because she's hooked and wants to find that buried treasure. Maybe eventually you're gonna run out of awesome things and she gets to the end and finds out that the treasure is that you're just such an awesome interesting person and she's developed a relationship with you. Or maybe you just give her a good time up until you decide to end it. Whatever the case, you've had good times, even if you just kept her as a casual relationship or a fuck buddy.

Awesome stuff 870, I love your posts. Btw, welcome to the mod team buddy!

The way this works with my game is that the outside of the chest--the superficial playboy vibe I tend to get pigeonholed with-- serves to lower her expectations of the true depth of my character. In other words, about the time she thinks she has me figured out, I show her a whole world of value she never would have thought I had to offer.

For somebody who tends to come off as a very complex and hard-to-figure out person, maybe their "treasure" is found when the woman finally understands the principles and convictions that govern their lives and interactions with others (as long as those principles and convictions are the result of a healthy belief system)--the "method to your madness," so to speak, that makes all of your seemingly irrational actions and attitudes make perfect sense.

Your boy,
870

PCT sounds good if you can spark attraction, but some people use DHVs to spark attraction.

Neither theory can apply to me though i'm afraid; I am my DHV.

Yeah, this is all fuckin nice but what if there isn't anything that great about you? Much like me, I don't have anything good to say about me and I'm not gonna make just make something up about myself....

Everyone has something great about them, just as we all have our bad things.

Are you loyal to your friends? DHV right there. Are you funny? DHV. It isn't hard mate.

One man's junk is another man's treasure; not everyone will see a DHV as a DHV.

Either you need to change your perception of your life, you need to go start living a more complete life, or both. The surest bet is the last one, but it's also the hardest. It requires putting yourself out there every day, trying new things and testing out new perspectives and beliefs--and possibly admitting your old ones were wrong. It's also the most rewarding, as you will surely learn something about yourself and life in general along the way.

Learning pickup is no replacement for building an awesome life you are proud to live.

Your boy,
870

then worry about fixing your life before you worry about picking up women. you have more important priorities.
