c'mon.
I play bass so the second one is applicable to me. But I try not to play anything unless she asks me or brings it up less I feel like I'm "showing off." But it's hard not to notice as where I live is virtually a studio and my 8x10 and 4x10 are just chilling there.
Jazzy things work real well. Use passing tones, 6ths, 7ths, smooth rhythms, and the chordal harmonies that make jazz....jazzy.
