some of you know i am jewish. my whole life I have kept kosher. if you don't know what that means, look up kosher on wikipedia, I am gonna explain it to you here. ok maybe I will. jews are commanded to eat kosher food. that's all you need to know.

in an attempt to break free from my parents and do something rebellious, last night I had unkosher food for the first time. I felt so guilty eating it, I felt like I was gonna vomit. when I woke up in the morning, I thought this was a bad dream and I really didn't eat unkosher food.

all this morning I have been thinking "am I a bad person?"

am I making a turn for the better and not realizing it? am I improving as a man? am I making a turn for the worse?

If it's part of your principles, values, and belief system to be Kosher, then you shouldn't have done it to be rebellious. You didn't prove anything to anyone. If you don't believe in the faith that you were raised, then you didn't do anything wrong. You didn't hurt anyone outside of yourself, so I wouldn't call you a bad person.

You probably should have posted this in the miscellaneous section since it has nothing to do with pickup.

thanks, your answer makes sense. I was thinking something along the same lines.
I don't really believe in religion, but sometimes I do. I don't believe in kosher but all these years I kept it due to the guilt. when you're not kosher there are so many more options, like I have never been to in n out or burger king or panda express. I would love to try all those restaurants. but it's just the damn guilt. I dont think I can do it again, because of the guilt I will be feeling afterward.
the question does have to do with pickup. my last paragraph asked "is this a sign that I am making a turn?"

Candidly, kosher and halal are unethical. From a utilitarian perspective, by not eating kosher food, you went against your belief system but you became more ethical.

You can tell from a mile a way. Or he is the most uncalibrated individuals I have ever met. He knows his stuff if he trolls. Jewish and kosher ? Pretty funny

Hey i am a jew too! L'chain!

Bartm's legit I don't know why some of you guys got your hate on for him.

Even if he's not, I'd prefer to believe that he is...far more entertaining that way.

I looked it up what it means. So did you eat a lobster or something? I am curious what it was :D

No one should dictate you based on religion and culture what you should eat or not eat. You can decide yourself. If your own value system says that you do not want to kill animals for food for example, then you become vegetarian. Another example is Chinese eating dogs or Japanese dolphins and muslims not eating pork. I can say that based on my belief system right now if I was Chinese or Japanese I wouldn't be eating dogs and dolphins because I feel more for these intelligent animals (kind of hypocritical isn't it) but if I was a Muslim I would have tried Pork because why would someone tell me that the particular animal is not to be eaten based only on consideration that it is filthy! Cows are also covered in their own shit.

If you have been depressed by following some sort of rules all your life without understanding why, then by all means don't feel guilty for not following them. If you really believe that you should abide by those rules because you agree with the belief system then you shouldn't be acting just "by rebellion". Rebellion means that you do not agree with your parents.

I think you did well.

Jack would be right if these were YOUR values. But they're not. They're values that have been shoved down your throat as a child.
Just like vegan parents forcing their pets to be vegan too. It's ridiculous and straight up abuse.

Once you have a value you believe in, you're not gonna rebel against it. It makes no sense. You can only rebel against something forced upon you.

I'm beginning to think Bartm is George Kostanza.

Name another troll apart from the legendary Bartm that would cause so much commotion with his threads. The guy is a genius and an example for all those that want to successfully troll. (Read with sarcasm)

Bart,

I wrote an article on my blog called "Religion is Bullshit"

It's more geared towards Christianity because... Well, that's what was fed to me as a kid lol

Check it out. I think you'll get something out of it.

You don't need to believe in what your parents told you to believe in.
