I thought you'd say a woman bought you a fancy watch or something.
No, I don't think it is weird. I've paid for a date before, bought a man a drink before. Once in a life time instances but it happened. But there is a limit.
One time, a date offered to drive to a place one hour away. Well, lo and behold, I ended filling his tank up 'cause oh he just noticed it was empty, tolls, and the show (he claimed he had paid online but once we got there had to pay upfront). No jokes. He said he had left his wallet home. Didn't apologize nor thank me. A week later, he messages me to go out. I tell him politely I am not interested. He asks why. I tell him straight up. He gets all defensive and writes back oh but I used my car to drive you to the city, that's enough repayment.
As my relationships get closer, the girls get more generous. My girlfriends gave me with gifts. I got a Samsung tablet the last relationship. That was fun. The relationship before that, I got a Xbox. So it happens.
I am trying to understand why it would be a once in a lifetime instance. I think it's a great that women are taking out their wallets and treating the man for a change.
