| Guys are so sensitive these days.... A nickname about your name is NOT disrespectful. Well sure, in some strict sense if someone isnt calling you by your birth name it could be seen as a sign of disrespect, but in that case the majority of human interactions can fall into someone disrespecting you. Disrespectful is someone calling you Dumb Hector, or fat Hector, or ugly hector. An dumb joke about your name is not disrespectful. Its annoying, its dumb, and sure you may feel beta. But if you feel beta for some guy calling you a nickname BASED ON YOUR NAME, then you probably feel beta anyway. Its a tease, about your NAME. Your NAME. How the hell would a joke about my NAME make me feel bad unless if maybe it was tied to something personal about me?
Every fricking week I call my boss a dumb nickname based on his first name. Does he see it as a sign of disrespect? No, its a dumb joke. And odds are, if its funny enough for others to laugh, and you dont find it funny, its because you're taking it personal.
I get it. The guy doesnt know you like that and maybe he's clowning you. But you know what I get from your account? If others are finding it funny, and it IS a sign of disrespect, then other people dont respect you too. He just speaks to you as they see you. If he sees you as a joke, the office sees you as a joke. The bully doesnt pick on the popular kid. So instead of figuring out how to be alpha to this ONE guy, figure out how you can be alpha at your job. Kids get picked on and bossed. Men don't. So are you the kid at work, or someone that others really respect in the first place?
