You're right about calling a girl rather than texting her.
Calling is always better I guess. Except for the voicemail, I'm really an AFC when it comes to that!
I always assume I'll get the voicemail when I call a girl, and I used to agonize over what to say. I would write down all kinds of things I wanted to say, but some married friend of mine set me straight after watching me fumble around for 20 minutes without coming up with a good message one day. Here's how to compose a voicemail:
"Hey HB, it's KingMidas. XXXXX. Call me back when you get a chance. Talk to you later!"
XXXXX = The subject of your call if you want to hook her interest with a special event. If not, simply leave it out. For example:
XXXXX = I've got tickets to the Cardinals game next Wednesday
So the message becomes:
"Hey HB, it's KingMidas. I've got tickets to the Cardinals game next Wednesday. Call me back when you get a chance. Talk to you later!"
Or:
"Hey HB, it's KingMidas. Call me back when you get a chance. Talk to you later!"
In other words, the point of the voicemail is to get her to call you back. A voicemail should not be an attempt to arrange a meetup or convey details about anything, whatsoever.
