Personally, i have 3 note books
1) For A1/A2/A3 Routines
2) For C1/C2/C3/S1/S2/S3
3) Notes from books, shows, videos and other theory only based stuff
and keep a poket note, which i get laminated and take with me when i go sarging <<< really good idea if u just right the titles of routines and openers down!!

But if I manage to vibe with the girl before that happens, it doesn't really matter if I remember any routines or lines.

There's definitely a lot to remember but if you hang onto the basic concepts, and "small chunk" your knowledge you'll be able to assimilate everything you need to game.
First of all, I'd recommend "small chunking". What that means is, focus on one aspect of the game at a time. For example, start with your openers. Just focus on those until you get confident with them. Once you get to a point where you can open any set you want to, move on to DHV/Interest building.
The other thing is, the whole game really breaks down into three main things: Building Interest, Building Comfort and Calibration. This may be a simplistic way of viewing it and you're right, there's a lot more to it but these are the building blocks.
Hope this helps
