How to back away from too much ioi via text

If you demonstrate too much interest via text (i.e. responding too fast to a text) and they don't text back, how is the best way to reverse this ?

Take as much time as she does to respond. And start delaying your own responses as soon as you see the conversation fizzling.

I suppose if its reached a point when she is the last one to text, you shouldn't initiate the next conversation and wait for her to do so ?

If she's the last one to text you, then the ball's in your court to initiate the next conversation. But you can wait until the next day or two to do so.

Unless her last few texts have been one word answers, then obviously, the above doesn't apply.
