I know I literally posted my Introductory Post on this forum today, but I thought I'd tell a quick story that happend this last friday.

I was out with a couple of girl "friends" from work and had a good time dancing. Towards the end of the night I got enough liquid courage in me to ask a girl i saw dancing by herself if she'd dance with me... She did, and we synced well out there, but she was a little drunk and on occasion tipping over.... :?

We got into a little small talk and she asked me a few questions, to be honest I don't even remember what we talked about. I couldn't even remember her name... But I managed to get her number right before I left the club.

The next morning I decided to text her to get some attention. (I know, needy, right?).. I said "You dance ok for a drunk girl. How are you feelin'?"

Her: "Who is this?"

Me: "most call me so and so, what's yours" --- Immdiately i thought to myself, WHAT the FUCK who says that?...

Her: Deandra... I'm sorry I gave you my phone number. I don't know why I did, I have a boyfriend... But, your cool though."

Me: "Ok, no apologies needed I'll delete you now"

Her: "But, your cool though"

Me: "lol"

I immediately deleted her number without thoroughly thinking it through. My first thought was, "but i'm cool though??? dork". She was HB7, but I didn't want to annoy her with drunken texts that night so I followed through with deleting the her number.

SHould I have deleted the number? What could I have said, if anything, to continue business as usual? I'm just trying to figure out if this could have played out differently.

This is just another example of why phone numbers should not be seen as goals in themselves. There are many situations where a person will give someone their phone number without it meaning anything. Being drunk is certainly one of them. The question should always be whether you've created enough of a connection for them to care when you use that number. If not, it's just a cheap thrill for a beginner with nothing really to come from it.
