This translates as "I'm gonna try harder to impress you but I want to keep my cool with some silly excuse". If you want to call a her out, either do it with a serious tone or over the top sarcastic. DO NOT do it half hearted such as adding ";)" to lessen the pressure for her.
Then you tried even harder to attempt to make her jealous with a pic with hot chick. She was interested enough to ask for details and instead of rewarding that good behavior, you blew it off and changed topic. The whole conversation lacks flow.
AND STOP trying to make it happen tonight. That will only put you into needy mindset. Rather than hanging out with her thinking about getting something out of it, hang out with her with a mindset of enjoying the interaction and get to know her better. Again GIVE it A REST, being less responsive to her. Then try again later in a week or after she gets back from her vacation. Think about it in the long run, she might only be there for 4 months but a night of wonder where you actually get to fuck her would beat 4 months of texting game back and forth with flakes anyday.
Next time just tell her to meet up with your real quick in front of her work when she gets off. You have a surprise present for her from your trip [make up a story], then when you gets there, you can drag her somewhere else for an instant date. As for the presents, buy something cute and cheap or at the least resort use your kiss.
