You get it from skin to skin contact/rubbing not through bodily fluids. Using a condom reduces the chances by 30% (since your penis is the thing usually doing the rubbing, but you still got lips, inner thighs, and balls rubbin' everywhere). Don't risk it, herpes don't seem fun. But if you happen to risk it, make sure she's not going through an outbreak as someone mentioned in this thread, it lowers your chances to catch herpes.

Most STIs aren't even that big of a deal. 90% of people have some form of herpes. If you use a condom, most STIs are going to be blocked. I forget which study I read, but for most STIs it would take sleeping with the girl around 40 times with UNPROTECTED sex to get that STI. The chance of getting genital herpes is less than 1% if she doesn't have an outbreak. Also, even if you did get herpes, you would have a couple of breakouts, and then it would go away for a long time. It's not that scary of a thing, but you'll probably be safe. You've probably had sex with a chick with herpes before anyways and not known it.

The worst thing that can come outta sex is having a kid that costs hundreds of thousands of dollars for 18 years that you can't get rid of if the girl doesn't want to get rid of him. So always use those condoms.

I was exactly in this situation about a week ago. The girl had type 1 and 2 herpes.

I decided not to risk it.

Here's reason:

Type 2 isn't common type of herpes. If you pick up a random stranger (assuming you aren't going for the sluttiest girl you see) chance of her having STD is quite low (depending on the country you live in of course)

Going to fuck a girl who you know has it is plain dumb.

Let's face it - if you're a serious womanizer, STIs, or at least the risk of, are pretty much a fact of life - it's a matter of statistics. I've had chlamydia a couple of times, and last year I actually came down with male thrush (didn't even realise that was possible!) - thankfully everything I've ever caught has been 100% curable so far.

I am pitching in with the "don't sleep with her" crowd for this reason. Every time I come back from the GU clinic with a clean bill of health I thank my lucky stars I have never had an incurable disease. Genital herpes is incurable, as someone already said, it will stay with you until you die.

To the guy saying "you might get hit by a car anyway" - no, that's a good justification for shagging lots of girls, but it's not a good justification for what this guy is considering - which is the equivalent of going and lying in front of a car rather than just living in the knowledge that you might get hit by one.
