So I'm just getting into the game and bought Neil Strauss's book. One thing that really stood out so far was peacock theory, I believe it stated a PUA should wear an article of clothing that really stands out so you will have something to talk about for a fall back or possibly HB's will approach you.

How unique should the clothing article be? What are some examples? I believe it mentioned a cowboy hat or sunglasses in the book but I really don't like those two examples.

It doesn't really have to be clothing persaye. But just something that really stands out. And yes, the whole idea behind it is for a HB to open you. Normally when they ask about it, it'll be an IoI(After reading the book you'll know what they are and how to pick up on them). Their's a shitload of things that can be used as peacock. A scarf, a really sick tattoo, a flashy watch, a medallion, rings, and lol even eyeliner. Just be creative and stick with something that fits your style. Hey who knows, you might end up putting on something you never thought of lol.

Well, it depends on your budget. And your specific interests to be exact. Take a look at your local pawn shop. Be sure to take a look at Amazon. They have some really cool shit there lol.

If a chick approaches you, and shes cute, the last thing you should talk about is clothing.

Also, you don't need some "interesting" piece of clothing for her to make an excuse to approach you. She will rationalize some reason.

I like peacock theory. Not to the extent that Mystery does it but I like to wear a ring or a scarf sometimes.

It's not even so much so she can talk to me about it, although she often will. It's more so she can touch it, play with it, ask me for it etc. Lots of fun has been had through my subtle peacocking items

peacocking is alright, providing you dont take it too far. otherwise it ends up working against you. most blokes wont be able to pull off the shit that mystery does. a ring or necklace usually does the trick, you shouldnt end up feeling like your peacocking is a safety blanket!

Guys, i honestly found the best peacock item of all time and it works everytime. My mates and I have even dubbed it the "shaghat". Guaranteed ass. Aight to describe it its like those furry alpaca hats but with a cap front and its made by diesel. It is super furry so when in a club women are always trying to pull it off your head. Always.

But basically i don't believe in item peacocking. Peacocking should be about having something that only you will have. Something that you know for a fact that nobody will have in a club or even have anything close. Do not go mental and get a gorilla suit but at the same time don't go get a tattoo or a medallion. Those are so old and EVERYONE is doing them. Go to a garage sale and by some random piece of junk cuz i guarantee you that if its unusual, it will attract attention, and if it attracts attention, it will attract HBs. Guaranteed.

The only negative thing I can see occurring that can come from peacocking is for girls to think your trying to hard and that can easily be avoided by not overdoing it. Like many of you said just stick with a necklace or something easy. I'm obviously not going to go out and buy a tattoo but I was hoping someone could guide me to a website where I could buy a unique watch or necklace.

Peacocking is nothing new, it's been a part of our culture for centuries. What is important to keep in mind is what the purpose of it really is. It's to draw attention to oneself. This can be done in a variety of ways. Sure you could wear loud clothing and act a fool, it would draw attention but what type of attention.

I think it is important to keep in mind what type of attention it is you seek. If you are in a night club setting, the best type of peacocking in my opinion would be dancing, and dancing well. Another form in any social gathering would be dressing unique, i am not talking loud colors or ridiculous clothing. Just be wearing something that nobody else is. Or different colors. The more unique it is the better, but it is wise to stay away from anything that is overly " look at me look at me"

If you are going to find something like a necklace or anything along those lines, why not make it something that will have some deep significance to you. Something that if asked about will spark a real emotional response from you. This response from you will no doubt show a genuine emotion and in turn create an emotional response from whoever you are talking to.

Creating the response is the very essence of creating a connection with another human being ( preferably a woman you are attracted to)

I suggest rather then taking anyone opinion on what to get, you go out shopping and find something that has some sort of meaning to you and your beliefs.

I've kind of always peacocked, I like to dress in a way that kinda stands out. At least where I hang out.

Peacocking is most relevant to clubbing in very specific environments. You'll find that most successful PUAs do not peacock at all because it's unnecessary 95% of the time.
