Horrible advise, read as much as possible, the more you read about biz, relationship, self help, spirituality, finances, whatever, the better and more rounded you will be....
Information is important, sure.

Experiencing information overload = bad.

Say you're teaching a friend about pick-up. You tell him "ok let's start it off like this. You walk up to that woman and you ask her where the nearest Starbucks is. That's it. She tells you, you walk away. Sounds good?"

What are the chances of your friend carrying out this task? Pretty high.

Now, you amp it up a little. "Walk up to that girl, ask for directions, start talking about her favorite dinosaur, relate that dinosaur to her sensuality, make her do a spin, tell her she reminds you of your ex, and OF COURSE . . . don't forget to touch her from time to time. Kino man. Kino."

What do you think will happen ^there? Say your friend miraculously agrees to carrying out that second task, what will happen?

He will walk up to the girl and he will do exactly what all other newbies that have been spending 6 months reading 23 books and watching 15 DVDs do: Freeze up, don't know what to say, and walk off.

Reading books and taking in information is very important, but structuring how you apply it is key. Example:

- Read only about 'opening sets'.
- Go out and open x amount of sets in y amount of days. Only open.

- Read only about routines and sparking attraction.
- Go out, open x amounts of sets and use the y-routine on the girl.

- Read only about closing sets.
- Open x sets, use y-routine, close with z-routine to get her number/kiss.

Information overload is your biggest enemy and will hinder your progress in every area in life, not just pick-up.

Forget about pick up, reading in general is good, specially in this age, if you are not keeping up in your profession, reading for example the latest stuff, then you are behind of the competition panda, your example while good has nothing to do with what we are talking about... Reading as much as possible(no pick up) is good and makes you well rounded... I myself read couple of books a month(no pick up related)... Before i hire somebody in my biz, the first thing i ask, what is the last book you read, if they can not answer that question with a book related to the profession, i do not hire them.. The book psycho-cybernetics excellent book so far, best thing i have read on inner game so far..

I never disagreed with reading 'in general'. In fact, that is exactly what I supported. But reading without applying is information overload and will hinder you more than help you.

This of course only applies to books that are actually APPLICABLE to you and your life. If the book doesn't contribute to any concrete ways of applying the information in real life - then by all means read as much as possible as it has nothing to do with the concrete structure of your success.

Totally agree, also i would suggest to re-read the books that are applicable at least once a year or review them when you can...

Well Panda, I actually agree. There is a large problem with applying when someone learns too much. However, the general rule with any self-help book is to read a chapter and do what it says in the chapter for 21-30 days. Then re-read the chapter at least 2 or 3 times a week within the stated period of time.

This is a critical process because it helps an individual to remain focused and their evaluate performance.

It is crucial that a person follow through, but even more crucial is that a person start. Your example is why I do not advocate for new comers to read PUA books. PUA books are only as good as the foundation they stand on.
