| your problem is not your 'mind getting back to old beliefs' its natural. Our mind is a complicated that we can never understand completely. But why can try to di in, ask yourself honestly, "why i am starting to think like that?" "did anything happen that might be causing this kind of thinking?" be you be lost a loved one, but on a conscious level you are not aware of it. Try to get the root (that is in your unconsicous mind) in the consicous mind so that you can understand the true cause and deal with it in the best way possible.
One more thing sometimes our mind goes back to old feelings, according to science, "we never forget anything" yeah, whatever we learn, and experience we never forget that, it just vanishes in our unconscious mind but we dont forget that ever. And all the time we are forming anchors to certain situations, sometimes it could be a physical movement, or the way you laugh or even the way you sit. So what happens whenever an old trigger is pulled, we start to feel those old feelings and we dont even know why. Because its not in our conscious mind, its being caused by unconsicous. May be you are in the same environment where you were when you were an afc? May be you met some of old friends? May be an old gf texted you?
Get the root and get rid of it by consciously taking healthy steps.
And if you cant find the root, then ignore all the noise that is in your head and throw yourself in the field a bit more. There is something called 'rule of emotions' and it states,"the emotions we focus on more, gets stronger and the emotion we do not pay attention to gets weak and ultimately rooted out as stroger emotions always take over the weak ones"
so focusing on positivety and ignoring the negative thoughts can also help a lot.
