i just don't understand the logic behind trying to convince oneself that std's are not a major deal, not all that common, or not all that dangerous.
aids kills three million people a year.
it is real.
what does it matter about the odds?
would you play russian roulette if there were twelve slots in the cylinder instead of six?
would you jump into the water if there was only one shark instead of five?
i personally know dozens of people who have had gonorrhea, chlamidia, hpv, and other diseases.
if you have not contracted one of these diseases (or something worse) up until now, it's not because there is a conspiracy to brainwash the masses not to have sex,
it is because you have been LUCKY, very very LUCKY.
Alas, we finally disagree a bit...haha
Why try to disprove it?
1) if it ain't the truth, why believe in it...cause all sorts of control and psychological problems occur as a result of this, many of which we can't see.
2) Stress through fear and other sources of control actually make life, in the long run, shorter and less free.....
The same thing happened to me when I lived in IN. I would travel out to work at night and there was a stretch of road that was 3 miles long, straight as an arrow. When I turned onto it, my Civic SI was at 115 mph in no time and held there till the end of that stretch. EVERYONE was telling me, "Casey, there are soooo many deer out there, you are stupid, you are just going to hit one, one of these nights."
Maybe, but I kept doing it.lol So, for 2 years I did this and only 1 incident that was somewhat (not really) close to this circumstance. So, statistically, 365 * 2 give mes a 1 and 730 chance of this happening....lol So in REALITY, this really isn't LUCKY that I didn't hit a deer, it is actually MOST LIKELY, I wouldn't. I feel it is similar to this STD thing...and again, when people live out of fear and control, THAT is when things like that actually come to fruition more than not...
And side note: My results came today and I am clean. phhheeew Now, this has certainly made me think through this issue again, but I think there needs to be a balance about not giving it any thought, but also NOT living in fear of these SUPPOSED high risks! When we get in our car everyday we don't worry about it to the point where we don't drive places...and the chances of a car wreck are easily as probable as STD's....
