I just started using material in my game. I've never really liked the idea of grabbing routines off the internet or using something that was created by someone else.

I've created openers, DHV stories, and a few negs/disqualifiers and set out to the club to test run my new material.

Then i noticed my problem... I'm not sure how to use any of my material after the opener.

I'll open.. and everything is fine until the opener's question/opinion has been answered. I'll even go into a little bit of why I'm curious what people think of this question. After that tho, i dont know how to go into any of my other material.

Is it important when making material to link them up to an opener and other dhv stories/routines?

How do you guys transfer the conversation from one routine to another?

You want to get off the opener as soon as you can. When you're in rapport with someone, you don't really think about transitioning, you just go into your story, so eventually you won't even be thinking about transitioning, but in the beginning you could say:

"Oh, that reminds me..."
"I know, Guys can be such ass holes, this one time..."
"You know what's crazy?..."
"You wouldn't believe what happened yesterday..."
"Yeah, actually last week I was..."

I think you can get the idea.

He's absolutely right. After the opener things die down really quickly. The opener is just that. Works just long enough to break down their defenses for you to get in.

Depending on what they tell me, or how they answer my question, I will come up with something to transition to. My transition is always based off the current situation. Whatever we are talking about at that moment.

If I open, and for whatever reason she mentions her niece in her response, I could follow up with how I don't have any, but my brother has been talking about how he wants kids. Then I could tell a story about my brother and how he ended up dating some crazy chick who claimed she knew voodoo. I could then ask if she believes in that type of stuff. Then run a PUMA routine. Say I learned it from an old man in Japan. Tell a story about my last trip.

The point is to use what you're talking about to transition. Don't feel that because you have something in common that you only need to talk about that one thing. Follow every story up with a question based off the story and however she answers, pick a little piece of the answer and go on to the next subject.

Wow, yea.. that makes sense now.

The first time going out and using material I've noticed, that it doesn't matter what you use for an opener. I've read it a million times but i didnt really see that until i tried.

Its not like your going to have an awesome response from it anyway. As long as an opener is able to let you use your other material then its as good as any other opener.

My first night, Except for 1 set of 2 overly bitchy chicks, every set opened. They were all interested in what i was talking about, but after the opener was over I had to use my other material. I wasn't sure how to fit another routine in so it was either walk away or talk about stuff going on around us (which I've been doing my whole life lol).

So, i guess I'll have to be prepared for that.

Thanks for the reply.

Edit:
Just read that last post..

Good advise, ill try that.
