I propose we stop using the letters S,D,A and O in both text and verbal communication.
While they are a very accepted way of communicating I feel totally stopping using them will only be beneficial in my attempt to communicate with people.
Actually, while I am at it I will also stop communicating with anyone I am not standing next too, these new "phones" and things are clearly useless and taking away from my natural ability to communicate. I should be living my life, trying to track down anyone I want to talk with so we can have a good face to face conversation.
If this goes well - I will then stop using my car, the internal combustion engine is clearly something that is reducing my chance of getting laid.

Now, that may sound stupid/dickish but I am fed up of all these dumb posts about "STOP USING FACEBOOK" or "STOP USING TEXT MESSAGING".
The year is 2010. We live in a scary place with the interweb and uPods. Now, my grandparents have managed to get the hang of text messaging and facebook so why the hell are so many of you against it?
Lets make something clear - EVERYTHING SHOULD BE USED IN MODERATION.
Lets look at the facts about texting:
Quote:
286 million US subscribers sent 152.7 billion text messages per month, for an average of 534 messages per subscriber per month.[21] The Pew Research Center found in May 2010 that 72% of U.S. adult cellphone users send and receive text messages.
So, nearly 3/4 of US adults use text messages - these silly things must actually be quite popular. The reason they are so popular is because they don't require your full attention to send. I can be at the gym, working out and send some text messages to friends/my GF and sort out our weekend plans. I could not do this on the phone.
Likewise, I could take a picture on a film camera, get it developed and then take it to all of my friends to show. Alternatively, I could put my damn awesome picture on this thing called facebook where hundreds of people will look at it, quite a few will comment and I dare to say a couple of people will masturbate to it.
It's called utilizing the resources available to you.
Texting is just another resource. YOU SHOULD USE IT. I fully agree that texting is NOT a replacement for a phone call or a face to face chat, but it is useful.
To make my point, here are some common useful text messages I send:
1)"Is your bus running on time?" (so I am not sitting around waiting for my date)
2)"I am at starbucks in town, you wanna meet up with us?" (To meet face to face)
3)"OMG THERE ARE DWARFS" (I received this at 3am from my best mate)
Now while a phone call could have also done the job, lets examine why it would have been worse:
1) If she is on the bus it will be loud, she will probably be bored so will want to talk. She may not want to talk as she is talking to someone.
2) I am with friends, I know another friend is in town and rather than interrupting the conversation we are having to ask a quick question on the phone the text achieves the job faster and quieter than a call. Also, the person I am sending it to doesn't have to pick up their phone etc.
3) I didn't have to listen to his drunk induced happiness at there being short people in the club.
To summarise:
Texting is good
Excessive texting is bad
