I've actually written an article on what questions you should ask on a first date...
I'll go dig out the link in a second,
So yes, go to a coffee shop and sit down with a drink, make sure it never gets awkward. I'm not sure how much you know her already but try to avoid all the boring questions like "What do you do?", "Where are you living?" etc.
Instead you need to ask questions that will allow here to talk back at you or a while and are a little more interesting. The above questions are bad because obviously they are boring and she will just say "Answer, what about you?" which doesn't really aid a free flowing conversation.
NEVER ask her about her previous relationships, try to avoid that subject as it can bring back feelings for her that she may then associate with you and if they are bad feelings, that's not good!
Depending on your personality you should ask different questions. For example if you're a 'funny-guy' you might want to just be incredibly random. After some conversation I quite like to ask stupid questions such as 'What's your favourite Dinosaur?' and 'If you were a soup, which soup would you be?'. These can always spark up amusing conversations. If you're not as comfortable being random and trying to be funny asking questions like 'What did you want to be as a kid?" are also incredibly good. These can develop into deep conversations sometimes and can also be levered into funny conversations.
This is what happened in Starbucks to me once:
Me: "What did you want to be when you were a kid?"
Her: "I always wanted to be a doctor blah blah blah blah"
Me: "Oh wow, that's really cool! I was just content with wanting to be a frog!"
*laughter*
Then I went on to describe how a frog's lifestyle was simple fantastic and we both ended up having a fun time on that date. (This is true, my parents tell me that I did actually want to be a frog when I grew up when I was 4 or so).
Anyway, the trick is to be confident and be yourself.
Ahh, it wont let me post the URL to my article until I've been here longer.
I've covered most of it in this post anyway but if you'd like to read the article anyway, shoot me a PM.
Cheers,
Hoodyy
