Hey guys

I don't know if its my insecurity or what, but unless I'm very drunk i just cant let go. Say a good song comes on and everybody starts singing it out loud and playing air guitar and stuff, I ust cnat bring myself to get ito it. Instaed i just stand there like there is something wrong with me.

How can I just let go?

I can't help you, but I have the same problem. I was at the bar one time with some acquaintances and this song came on and practically everyone in the bar started singing it and whooping it up, but I never heard it before and didn't know the words or anything, so I just kind of stood there the whole time. Afterward, this girl (hot btw) that I was kind of hanging out with was like, "You look scared!" Inside I was like, "Pfft!" but I couldn't really argue that I didn't LOOK scared.

I think it's a matter of hanging out with people and getting comfortable with that. I spend most of my time alone, so being in groups of people is just a completely unfamiliar environment for me, so there's this underlying tension that I can't just wish away. Maybe that's your problem as well.

Frame Control/Defining Reality:

You need to work on inner game.

Change your persona, create a new you without this lack of confidence and these fears. You need to be alpha - alpha's don't give a shit, look into how to build yourself into this.

I would also take a look at martial arts breathing exercises AND NLP, mix self NLP with breathing exercises to quickly boost your state of mind when you need it most.

And for those times when you're just being stupid - the quotes thread is particularly useful for quickfire messages to snap yourself out of it:

gotta start building confidence by doing things out of your comfort zone like the nike commercial you just gotta do it.... nothing terrible is gonna happen if you look awkward or feel insecure, inaction is worse
