Database rolled back to last Saturday. Nice.

We had a forum, it was running, it was sold, now we have regular outages and people lose their posts, many of which had great ideas and thoughts behind them. It's a great way to send people packing...maybe to the ones on the ad banners.

To site techie guy: if you need a hand, I am willing to dedicate a small portion of my free to time assist you in keeping this forum up and running. Limited time offer.

I have to agree. The last few weeks have definatly been a case of "DONT FIX WHATS NOT BROKEN"....
The forum was working well, everything looked fine.

Now, half the time the site isnt even up, the new banner at the top is huge. The server change i could understand, but the fact the site is down so much makes me question if you were upgrading it or just going for a cheaper option....

Ditto.

I can handcode in HTML/CSS, and I'm good with editing PHP, not so much writing it. I'm not trying to make a full-time job or anything, but if it's a tweak here and there or removing that stupid window that pops up EVERY time I get onto the forum, I'm willing.

Exactaly right. There are some things that are just ridiculous. The "REGISTER NOW" pop-up on the LOGIN PAGE!!! Fuckin seriously?

And then the "This site is down for matinence..... seriously.... have you never heard of test mirrors? Mirror the site on something like test.pick-up-artist-forum.com or pick-up-artist-forum.com/test. Do work on THAT site. Then, when you're done, just copy over from the mirror...

I don't care about the giant ad at the top, thats just personal style. New owner, new style.

I do care about the "UNKNOWN ERROR" when trying to log into the chat though... Seriously... UNKNOWN?!? What kind of shoddy ass code are you working with if it tosses an UNKNOWN ERROR....

Y'all need to rethink your outlook for these forums. If you annoy the crap out of us, make it so we can't post, or anything that fits in a similar category, then we'll stop coming...

I am not all that happy with this. But there was a message saying they are moving servers to handle the load of traffic this forum is getting.

Moving servers doesnt usually take this long. Sure there are bugs for a week or two but NOT random downtime every few days.

It depends on how much data that has to be moved as well as setting up the new server. And how much time the staff/admin has to move and setup the new server. In the message it said the new server will come online next monday. As far as the crashing goes, with out access to the logs my guess is that with the spike in traffic we are maxing out the server resources causing the server to crash as much as it is.
