Don't know exactly where to put this, so apologies in advance if you have to move it.

My question is about the website Hot or Not, and I was wondering what you guys think of this site and if you find it to be valid/accurate in terms of actually reflecting true physical attractiveness.

The reason I'm asking (in case you were wondering) is I recently placed a photo of myself on the website and have been given a '9.1' so far in terms of attractiveness (bear in mind, only about 100 or so have rated it thus far) and I've never really had anyone tell me that I'm super attractive like that. I've had the occasional one or two girls tell me I was hot, but the majority have said I'm about a "high 7/low 8" (me and all of my girl friends one day got into a big discussion where we rated our other friends, people we knew, people we hate, and inevitably each other on the 1-10 scale).

So these online results, while ego boosting, seem a little sketchy...

For those who have used the site Hot or Not, what was your experience in terms of accuracy and what did you notice? I'm just skeptical is all.

Oh, and please no rants about how looks don't matter. I am well aware that good looks do not = good game, and that you don't have to be good looking to pick up beautiful women (just look at Mystery and David Deangelo). But come on, I'm willing bet that almost every guy here has wondered how attractive they are at one point or another.

I don't know where you're getting this idea that looks matter because they don't. Just look at blah blah blah...

Just kidding I'm not going to bullshit you like that.

However in answer to your question no that site is not accurate and you will not find a site on the internet that is. People will just go through for whatever reason and randomly rate people different ratings. If you notice on the site on your login it reads "Note: Want more ratings? Rate more people and you will get more ratings!"

People will drop you ratings just to get ratings without even looking at your picture.

not that it matters that much, but you need much more votes than that for accuracy

I was a 9.8 after 70 votes.

HAHAHA, then I got 700 Votes.....not 9.8 anymore

It's not very accurate, but there is a bigger issue here.

Your inner game. Why do you need to feel to get validation from random strangers on your looks? You shouldn't give a damn.

We want to make success as consistent and easy as possible. While it is true that the community plays down the importance of looks to make their products more universally appealing they do have a HUGE effect.

I gained a curiousity about this in my Mystery Method days and it is an issue I have studied the psychology of and talked to women about extensivley and am sick and tired of the "gurus" of business trying warp peoples beliefs on this issue to pedal their crap; if they can sell more by downplaying the importance of looks and appealing to the "everyone's equal" concept they will but reality bites sometimes and some of us have an advantage over others.

But hey just be glad you're not an unattractive woman; no matter what she does she's still physically unattractive and will have to spend her life wanting numerous guys she has NO chance whatsoever at having and is forced to settle for all of her life while she watches her hot friends get all the men she desperately wants.

Although any guy can attract a woman women ARE more open to being seduced by a more physically appealing man; they will desire for a good looking man to seduce them more whereas an uglier guy has to have his own inner game and alpha behavior projected in order to stand out from the crowd and hit her other attraction triggers. Both are extremely easy to do once mastered but looks DO matter.

Either way we want validation from society that we are good looking because it will increase our ease of success and chances of getting hot girls; we give a damn because how good looking we are effects our success. You don't need to think "I'm not good looking so I've got no shot" but it everyone likes an edge over the competition and the knowing that things are going to be easier because they have well-shaped bones.

even if it was accurate, that site just rates you on the specific day and the specific pose you was in when you took the photo right?

Think about how lucky we are that we can work up to something; we have no limits for achieving our sexual goals. Ugly women have no chance their whole lives.

Imagine who crappy that would feel.

Don't feel like shit man. Reality is what it is and it's not worth a damn to waste time worrying about it. Don't feel like utter shit because everything (including ugliness) has it's advantages.

If I hadn't been suicidal in 9th grade I wouldn't have gained the drive and unstoppable desire to succeed and would be miserable today and would probably still be a supplicating, miserable, beta male wimp because I wouldn't have gone looking for answers and I never would have asked guy who taught me to get girls in high school for help; everything has a good side to it. The worst experiences can change your life for the better if you allow them to.

Being handsome for a guy is always a good and will make things MUCH easier but it is by no means imeprative whereas a woman has to have a good bone structure or she's got no chance.

Hmmm.. .I've been looking at the phschology of attractivness, and surprisingly what you find attractivee is based very much on which females during your developement as a child were regarded as "attractive" or "high value".

I disagree. A baby will stare at an attractive person over a non attractive person for a longer period of time. The way they determine attractiveness of course is by symmetry of the face. Attractiveness has yet to be affected by outside sources at that age.
