Im looking to get a cammera system to record some of my work. Here is what I was thinking.

1. Digital cammera (That can record video) with an audio-in jack.

2. Wireless mic system.

This way a freind can record the video from a distance and u can have the mic on you, for clear audio of the pickup.

A system with a hidden cammera on your body and mic would be even better.

Anyone got any ideas? Ive been looking around the web all night.

I actually thought about doing this in sets and analyzing the sarge videos, but I think it's illegal to do this without the participants' consent.

Not illegal if its in a public place. Allready checked (today actually) with a lawyer friend.

Depends on how much you want to spend... here's a button camera but it's $600

This thing is pretty small and only $80... you might be able to hide it on your person somehow:

Actually this thing is only $300... looks promising:

I know that recording video in public is totally legit, but are you sure about audio? I think it falls under jurisdiction of wire-tapping laws for some reason.

I found this just now, another button cammera with audio. Now i just need a DVR type device to plug it into. Lets not get into the legality of this on this thread.

Well actually, you gave me the idea, but I was thinking of using my little mp3 player that has an internal mic (alot of em do) and just recording the sarging audio. I do imagine you could sync the audio (recorded separately) with the video on some program. May be cheaper than buying a wireless mic.

Best setup would be simply a digital cammera with audio in port. Your buddy tapes the pickup and u wear a wireless mic that the audio is piped remotely into the cam.

The problem with a buddy taping it, is that you need to make sure he is wearing a hidden one and not holding a camera that they can see, cause otherwise it blows the whole thing and influences their actions.

I was also thinking about recording myself as I start out to see if i talk too fast or if I sound nervous and what-not. I am going to use an mp3 recorder but it's hard to hide and kind of makes me self-conscious.

Why do you want to record audio/video?

Do people here ever post that stuff? like that Mystery vids on youtube?

I'd love to see REAL verisons of that (there's a lot of fake stuff it seems on you tube).

Post something if you end up trying it, I'm interested in this...

Dude, I got the cheapest mp3 at walmart for $35 with an internal mic. Its about the size of my thumb. Throw it in yer pocket it works fine and you may even forget you have it on you.

I bought the button cam and the best pocket DVR they had at uspystore.com (I went to their store since it was near by). The video is amazing, even in low light....very impressed. I ran into a pro videoograpger that does weddings and showed him....he was even impressed by the amazing low-light performance.

Problem is the audio, WAYYYYYYY too sensitive...its all noise in a club.

Does anyone know how mystery and the big time guys do the audio when they records pickups?

Maybe they can manipulate the kHz that it is recorded by. That affects the quality of your recording depending noise pitch.
