Guys I need some help.

I have trouble opening up with random girls walking on the road.
If I am ride in a bus, I can easily open up to a girl. Get her number etc. etc.
If I am in a social gathering, I can easily open up to a girl. Get her number etc. etc.
HOWEVER, If I am walking on the road, I feel weird to approach.
I don't even know what openers can I use. When I travel in a bus there is a context available such as (Where are you going, what book are you reading). Similarly, a context is available in social gatherings.

Things I feel that stop me
1) When I walk on the road, I continuously stare at a girl, but girls don't really make an eye contact.
2) It really feels weird if a girl has earphones on (she might be listening to music, or talking to someone)
3) Lack of openers. ("Hi, I think the top that you are wearing looks really nice on you. Could i Get your number, I would love to take you out for a drink") I think my opener is CREEPY. HELP ME OUT HERE

Apart from that, I am from India and live in North America. I am not sure if there are typical stereotypes that girls might have for an Indian Male.

I am above average looking. Like a 7-8 on a scale of 10

Tell her she caught your eye and you wanted to meet her, use this as default if you don't have any situational openers

It's no different from other situations in which you already opened sets. You can say anything you want. For example, you might make a comment about the way she is dressed. "Why are you wearing black?" or " I like your shirt". Well, I know it seems stupid and boring, but it works. I've been doing street game for a few weeks now and all I can say is, you can open with the most boring questions mankind has ever seen. It doesn't matter. Don't think too much about what to say. This only shows, you care for the outcome. Stop caring for the outcome and you will take your game to the next level. Pick up is not about getting one girl, it's about self-development.

If you have balls to open conversations on the bus and other places you don't need to have a problem on the street. The easiest way to do it is to ask a question like where is X or Y. (If she's going towards this direction then awesome - you can walk with her...)

Use all the eye contacts, little smiles, voice tones etc. and BE CHARMING just asking the question. Once she sees that you're pretty hot and manly, she's there already, standing with you. All this in 5 seconds. From there start the pickup. Say something funny (think of something in advance and use it all the time in these situations) and you're in!

By the way, try not to surprise them when you're coming from the front. They need to feel that you're going to stop them for a question.
About coming from the back... I'm not sure. Street game is not my specialty...
