Not sure where to put this, so I guess it's going here. I know you guys probably hate threads like this, but I am a college kid going through some struggles going into my second year. Student population is ~16K.
I'm going to be going back to college for my second year. My first year of college was awful. I didn't have hardly any friends, and never had a social life at all. This next semester I wanna create one but I know that people will not be receptive to me because I didn't give off a good vibe at all last year. Many people see me around campus and know that I don't have a lot of friends, so I don't feel like people would really be open to having me in a social circle. In other words, I don't have any social value. My question to you is how can I create social value from scratch and with no momentum without coming across as needy?

I don't think any one is paying half as much attention to you as you may think. No ones looking at you in a school of 16k people and saying " Oh theres the guy that had no friends last year. Stay away". No one cares man.

What people care about is what value you have the ability to add to their lives. No one is turning away a great connection, just because they weren't well connected last year. Its who you are now that matters. What can you bring? What do you offer? How does adding you to a social circle benefit them?
