Ever since I got into pick up I have always been for the dissenting opinion. It is important for people to disagree with you and even more important to believe strongly in what you do. Therefore having people with differing opinions challenging yours and building your beliefs is a good thing. Or if your beliefs were weak in the first place and the challenge opens your eyes to new beliefs or opinions that work better for you in your life, that is a good thing.
Years ago I thought that relationships and dating were supposed to be one way. I believed that men should be gentlemen, etc. etc. It wasn't until I challenged this belief enough until I realized this opinion may not have the best benefit for me in my life.
A dissenting opinion will challenge everyone's beliefs and if you feel strong enough in your own beliefs, they will only grow stronger in those beliefs with an opposing belief pushed against them.
When the girl is told by her parents not to date you she often will, tragic love stories with angry parents by the plenty on this one.
In addition, if there is some ego involved or something more than discovering the world at play, opposing beliefs would do harm to your world view and put you on defense. Opposing beliefs will do you well when open and unattached to the outcome.
The guy who wholeheartedly believes his hair is brown, doesn't care if someone tells him his hair is blue.
A beautiful woman who believes that she is beautiful would only care if she was told different when her ego was threatened (ie a desirable guy said she was ugly).
For these reasons it's important to embrace the differences. This stimulates thought and change in the world.
