Thanks guys.

Yes, already seeing a therapist. Therapists never talk about love and dating. Therapists don't actually care if you get well. They actually like it when you keep coming to their office b/c it keeps them in business. But I do see one. It's still better than not seeing one.
Hope you're talking to a psychologist and not a psychiatrist. Good psychologists listen and give practical advice, and the right one will talk about your love/dating/sex life if that's what's bothering you. Psychiatrists on the other hand are basically drug dealers with a license.

I have one MD psychiatrist, and he just prescribes drugs. I found out about him in rehab actually. He was one of the people making the rounds each day. I had an OD in 2007. I was hooked on pain meds from an X-mas 2006 SUV rollover where my left arm was dragged.

The MD psychiatrist is happy just to see a patient get off the couch and talk to another human being. Yeah he's got me on stuff... Can't get off it but I'm tapering down. Maybe I should list my meds in my sig: seroquel, trazodone, Lexapro, Valium.

But I also have a therapist. And he's okay about suggesting stuff for my love life. I would say he's a fan of day game. He suggested looking up groups on Meetup, which I'm doing.

I'm looking at Couchsurfing too. Hey, to the guy with the hidden cam... don't spoil couchsurfing's reputation.... there's a social contract based on trust we're trying to abide by... so I'm told.. I just hope those people were really stupid and never find out ... that would be rough..

Here's another pertinant question...

Q: What are some hobbies where both the following are true?

1) Guys can enjoy it, and do it well and even "geek out"
2) They provide a way to meet girls

I'm into shit like information technology, mechanics, and investing... It may be, that I'm depressed to the point where I seek out introverted hobbies... hmm. .. food for thought. anyone else like that?

Anyone know what geeks can get into that women also like?

But these PUA places are always telling you that you need to be high fashion to have game--that you need to buy Prada and crap like that.
Lol, Prada. I mean look, if you're actually trying to get into V.I.P. at the top few bars in NYC where legit models/celebs hang out, yeah, actually, you'd be well invested in doing stuff like this.
But honestly, if you're looking to go out and get laid, nothing is better than top 40 dance clubs, and on a bar front, college aged dive bars. Wearing Prada there is the kind of thing that will get you hit.

Most of the so-called PUA gurus have budgets of tens of thousands of dollars per year to spend on travel, clothes, and other things that make them attractive to women. It hardly seems surprising that they get laid. I've read a lot of the books and want to call BS on all of them. Most notable PUA artists are nothing more than reality show actors, whether or not they have been on TV... They get paid to live famously, write about it, brag about it, dress for it, and then act like they have some special talent when they actually get laid after they insert stories most of us could never tell into their conversations (I'm self employed, rich, well-traveled, etc, etc).
I agree with you and I get the sense your exposure to PUA consists of Mystery, Style, RSD and other similarly shitty stuff. The vast majority of PUAs are posers and scam artists. They are effective marketers and are not good with women.

Rather than go further into this, I will just point you to four legit PUAs(though I don't think even one of them uses that moniker) who teach you things that actually matter. All of them have free blogs with loads of content.
My top pick is Chase Amante (Covers just about everything you could want to learn on the mental side)
My second is 60 Years of Challenge (Covers what you need on moving forward with an existing sexual spark)
My Third is Good Looking Loser (Covers simplicity and doing what works)
My Forth is Christian McQueen (Covers mastery of the critical elements).

Don't get me started on therapists. The ones who just sit and listen are the best ones. I know several people who were deeply fucked up(deliberately) by therapists. If they see signs of you improving, they will literally go out of their way to break you.

Biking is a good one. So is Toastmasters, if you live in a big area.
Charity organizations that involve the environment, animals, art, or religion are also very solid.
