Nofap is flat out, a %100 cult. Complete with rituals, and totally unfounded claims that make absolutely no sense at all(miracles).

Interestingly enough, most religions have used sexual shame as a primary vehicle for their message of hope and salvation through abstinence. Those who follow the true way will be well rewarded. You must resist temptations, and this will strengthen you as a person and spiritually, where the fruit will be found in many varied ways.

Though NoFap promises this is a way to enhance your sexual success, it also claims it can make dramatic improvements in nearly every area of your life. Claims of major career improvements, and even curing of diseases are not unheard of.

The first issue is mixing up correlation with causation. "I jack off all the time and rarely get laid... OMG! That's why I don't get laid!". And then he expects(and is often told by fellow cultists) that his personal success will skyrocket if only he stops jacking off.

What strikes me as rather obvious is that frequent masturbation is a SYMPTOM of having no social life, not a cause. There are some limited issues with excessive masturbation, but stopping it is not some life changing event.

Almost every claim made by a "NoFap" success, is directly mirrored by people who convert to Christianity, Islam, Scientology, etc. I had a realization. I decided to change my life. I let go of sin. I started following the true way. Now everything in my life has changed, and every day is filled with rainbows and unicorns.

And once converted, what do they do? Evangelize! Everyone must learn about the wonders of Bob Dobbs/Christ/NoFap. NoFap has more zealots on the internet than the Mormon church. I have to say, I've read about 20x as many people preaching about the wonders of NoFap than I've had people trying to get me to read The Lamb of God.

I think there is some merit to suggesting that people who excessively masturbate, cut it out(just as I can find positives in any religion/cult). I think it can indeed be a mild demotivator, and it can also lead to sexual health problems. However, cutting it out is not some life altering change, unless you make it the catalyst. And you can pick anything as that catalyst. Be it NoFap, a New Year's Resolution, Jesus, or the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

Alcoholics Anonymous has long been recognized as a cult. I think it's time we start recognizing that NoFap is also a cult.

nofap is not a cult too. it's just a bunch of morons. why care? why am I even wasting my time writing this?

More importantly, they fit what a sociologist would describe as a cult.
I'd rather go with the person who studies human interactions, over the person who studies verbiage.

I like your advice Vers, but I don't get this thread. By your standards isn't pickup a cult? As to improvements in your life beyond dating. Also, I barely hear anything on No Fap. Sure, if you're browsing pu forums but beyond that I don't ever hear about No fap. So I don't get the evangelical argument. I see more book recommendations for Models by Mark something than for no fap or lamb of god.

Pickup can be a cult. Certainly RSD is. Speed Seduction as well. Roosh's gang on their forum are definitely close. Love Systems seems to be, from what little I saw on their forum. I think a lot of PU is very cultish. I don't see much of it here, which is why I post here. But you may notice that I believe in pretty simplistic "game". Yeah, I'll give detailed advice on specific situations, but I think human interactions are too complex to pre-plan for. And I think attracting woman and having good female options is a very important thing in life. But I really don't support living to get laid and obsessing over it.

I've been seeing NoFap proliferate tremendously in just the last few months. I had barely heard of it even a year ago. Now it's not just on this forum, I'm seeing it on bodybuilding constantly, and I've been doing some nutritional research the last few days, and sure enough - NoFap stuff, all over the place on nutrition sites with comments enabled(including one about white vs brown rice.. I mean, seriously).

What I see from PUA here, is almost the opposite of a cult. It says, "fix your yourself and your life and you'll do better with women". Not "get women and it will fix your life"(though I think a lot of guys come here with that desire).

If fapping somehow drops your sex drive, won't having sex do the same thing? And with that, isn't actually succeeding in a pickup going to hurt your chances the next day?

So yeah, I wouldn't have said cult, but it is a group that loves to do something other than talk to women and believes they are getting better at talking to women, like the bodybuilder types.

In the beginning it does look promising. Masturbate, and your body believes it's already done what nature needs it to do. Don't, and your body and mind will try harder to find a female mate in order to survive and replicate. What really needs to be determined is what interval is best. Once a day? Once a week?

It's really not the "release" thats bad. It's the excessive squeezing of your dick tip that will fuck you up physically and also getting the wrong idea about what sex actually fucks you up mentally.

Guy's think you need a 12" cock to please a girl from watching porn. Also makes guys think that pounding away at a girls vagina at a million miles an hour equates to "good sex."
