I see. So basically, there aren't good routine stacks being offered as products, nor are there even frameworks. They basically require that you sit down and draft a list of items you want to tick off IE, open, get group's interest, find out if girl you like is available, isolate, etc. Then you write out each of these things and memorize your main points. So you're coming up with absolutely everything on your own.

I can respect that, and I can certainly see some uses for it. Especially in very common situations that you encounter over and over again. My view of routines was probably fairly strongly influenced by Sinn, who often talks about his 10 hours of material he scripted and memorized. I was just thinking to myself that it seemed crazy to have to do something like that. But having routines for common instances, and then being able to hold regular conversation when you're not in those common situations(rather than freak out and collapse), seems perfectly reasonable.

Do you go word for word or extemporaneous?
It's pretty easy actually to make a stack. It's like script writing. Pick a good opener and think about what flows naturally from that. In most conversations, you can expect certain responses. For eg, when I did day game (direct), I knew at some point it's gonna come up in conversation what we're both up to today. So I used a routine for that. I'd ask her "what are you up to today" and then she'd answer and ask what about you. Now, if I was being natural, I'd say the truth, maybe in a funny way, like "shopping for X, or just at the mall or whatever." But I'd use a routine like "I'm actually about to meet some friends...we're getting together to plan a party for our friend Rachel and can't decide...what do you think...jungle theme or 80's theme?" She'd answer, I could tease the response and move on. Then later I could call back to how her suggestion was the best over text or something. See, I can convey more than in a regular answer and it doesn't have to be a long thing. My view on routines is that I use them not for me be interesting but to give the girl a chance to open up and be interesting in responding. I've found that you don't need a full 10 hours word for word of stuff, but if you start strong, things are easier. So maybe the first couple to 5 mins may be word for word, but it's strong and hits hard.

This is why i don't get the routines make you stuck in your head thing. If you've ever told a joke you know well to someone, you're not straining to remember the words, you're relaxed knowing the punch line will hit and you're playing with the delivery.I will admit, routine guys get stuck entertaining, but that's because they dont use them to escalate.

The people who deliver routines unnaturally, are the people who don't practice it and work on their delivery. Also, how do routines not take feedback? You use a routine, it flops...you change your delivery and try again. No one has ever said to use a routine monotone and keep using it.
That's how I see most people use it, whenever I see infield videos of forum members posted here. I've also watched infield videos of a few routine based "pua" instructors and it's the same problem. Bravo(Style's instructor) is the only one that seemed like a normal, cool guy in them.

When I've been out, it's been pretty painfully obvious that they're using routines. If someone tries to ask a question or nearly everyone stops listening, they just "plow" and keep going. And then there's the psych games, or props like tarot cards that are a pretty massive giveaway. And the dudes still peacocking seem to always be routine based(and I've yet to see a good peacocking guy).
Where it's absolutely the most frequent though are the dudes coming over to "AMOG" me, with silly faggotry like "Hey! Shouldn't you get back to your girlfriend?" and other famous stuff from books like The Game.

Routines are based around using them and tweaking the delivery and words to find what works best. As to energy, I'd say all of the routine guys I've met have a good delivery. They don't sound robotic in any way. A good wing of mine (routine guy) in Atlanta would say an amazing story to me and I'd be like wow. Then he'd tell me it was a routine. I'd be dumbfounded because his delivery was that convincible.
I know there are some really good, routine based guys. And I suppose it could be that when I've met someone running routines really well, that I didn't realize it.

The "natural" guys would come up and be like wow. These are guys who have done thousands of approaches, been to at least one bootcamp (RSD or guy in NY) and admit they may have gotten 1 lay in the past year (after approaching for over 2 years). I'd tell them "why don't you play with a routine or a stack and see if it works" and they'd say "nah, I want to be natural...routines don't work." And I'd roll my eyes and think, well what you're doing hasn't been working. I don't know how it is in your neck of the woods V, but I've met way more of the creepy smiling "natural" guys, than robotic routine guys.
You won't hear me defending RSD bootcamps. I think Speed Seduction is the only thing worse. It could just be that the bad routine based guys are very easy for me to spot, while the crappy "pua" guys not using routines just seem like regular guys.

So routines are made for feedback and tweaking. And if they aren't flowing naturally, it's because you're just throwing them together, which no routine based school of game advocates. This is what a routine stack is for.
I've never seen a good routine stack. Do you sit down and write them out, like a story based flow chart or what? I'm being dead serious here, because I really did look into routines a bit a few years ago and everything I looked at seemed inconsistent and strange.

THANKS!

I didn't even like doing those routines on vid, but had to for some training material.

Ultimately we are like actors or comedians

Guys can have the same scripts/jokes, but Chris Rock and Patrick Stewart can deliver them better than most.

Routines are used to teach you things, if you need them. If you don't then don't use them!
(just like training wheels)

I NEVER used other peoples routines when I started out, but did use some of my own, to fine tune and understand finer points, that I wouldnt have been able to before.

-and in reference to this thread, I will post what I posted on Mystery's FB page in response to this video

Yeah, I get that's how it is described. I just observe guys who's #1 problem is being up in their head, and routines usually seem to keep them there. I know Neo feels they're useful for freeing you mentally, it's almost autopilot, so you can focus on the moment... I just wonder how many guys get that and use them that way. At the very least, I feel there is something flawed in how the use and focus of routines is commonly taught. New people seem to hone in on "Do X, now Y! Now Z!" and it seems to trip them up a lot.

Providing opportunities for her to get involved is a good idea. It's also something I don't usually see mentioned in what I've read about routines. Most of the common literature seems to focus on entertainment, DHVs, etc. I just get the sense that what you do is not what is in the mainstream advice. I've never seen this take on them. If the routine based PUAs I've seen were doing things like what you describe, I wouldn't be critical of them.

Are there some guys/blogs, etc that direct guys to use them the way you do? I'm usually inclined to tell routine based guys who are struggling to drop the routines, but if they could just reform their routines in a smarter direction, that may work better for them.

the conscious mind can handle 5 variables (+/- 2) so guys who dont have conversation skills into the subconscious mind, need them (autopilot)

what you wonder about= is really just the same thing for most people who never GET it

Whether it is music, martial arts, or Pick Up

They "learn it" (well most who start out dont), they may even "absorb it", but the never "forget it"

They never level up past just doing what they were taught to do, and start self expressing.

Whether they are quitters or just dont have it in them...who knows. Thats just the way it goes.

STYLE WAS VOTED PUA OF THE YEAR MANY TIMES SO EVIDENTLY HIS METHODS WORKED AND STILL DO
Shouting something doesn't make it true. Style is a sensationalist writer whose popularity as a guru only exists because he exposed the underground PUA to the masses. Being a writer, there is a trashy tabloid element to his writing and much of what he wrote in The Game is embellished at best and purely made up at worst.

However, he did bring together different schools of thought in terms of pickup, which opened up an incredible debate and allowed others to come up with far better techniques. That said, if you were to purely follow the techniques Style came up with himself (not the stuff in his book which other guys came up with), you wouldn't get very far with women. Saying 'he was voted the best means he is the best' is like saying someone like Justin Bieber is the best singer because he has the most fans. Perhaps he is the most well-known PUA guru to a passive guy with only a fleeting interest in pickup, but that doesn't mean he was ever the best.

Routines are lame. It confuses girls and doesn't state sexual intent. You will fail using routines if you cannot transition into a natural conversation after you run out of the rehearsed words from your script. If you succeed with a routine, you are succeeding in spite of it, not because of it. Your brain's dopamine reward system lies to you, telling you that those few occasions you got laid, it was the routine which made her want to have sex with you.

Canned openers are ok if you can't think of a natural one, but these crazy long-winded routines like The Cube should be left firmly in 2004 if you actually want PUA to help you get laid. The way I see routines / peacocking etc. is they only worked occasionally at the time because the guys they were competing with royally sucked. If everybody in your small town sucks at pickup, routines might work now and again simply because it shows you suck slightly less than the chode guys with zero game. But if you are competing with well-dressed well-groomed guys with solid natural game, you will fail, badly.

Thank you Hunter. Comparing PUA's with Natural game to PUA's with canned stuff, there simply is no comparison. I think that canned material is great for newbies, but it should be used like a crutch. It will help you come over AA and build confidence, but you have to weed yourself off of it. I was massively unsucessful using canned material. When I learned Stealth and RSD, my sucess increased.

The most recent epiphany that I had was that I was learning all of this night game stuff when I day game way more. I also don't like parties so I'm switching to daygame.
