this is not about pick up but I feel like the people here understand human psychology more than anyone else so I wanted to ask about your opinions.

I do interpreting on the side to make some money. There are some agencies that have me on their list, and whenever someone needs an interpreter, they will call me.

today I went to a medical office to interpret. so they took us to this exam room. the patient was an old woman and I left the room so she could take her clothes off and put on a gown. While I was standing in the hallway, minding my own business, this bitch who is supposedly the manager comes around and says "WHY ARE YOU STANDING HERE? You are supposed to be in the room with the patient" so she kind of forced me to go into the room and wait with the patient while the doctor was coming. well, she didnt really "force" me, she didnt touch me physically, but I mean I had no other choice but to go in.

Then we wait, and the doctor comes in, asks her a few questions which I interpreted. Then the doctor asked me to leave so she could examine her physically. I left and waited in the hallway again. The bitch comes around and she is like "WHY ARE YOU STANDING HERE? did the doctor tell you to come out?" I said "why do you keep harassing me?" she says "did the doctor ask you to leave?" I said "what do you think? it's common sense." this other bitch who was supposedly another manager overheard the whole thing and she comes and says "you are being unprofessional. I am gonna call the agency that sent you and complain" I shrugged my shoulders like "who cares?" and she asked for my name and I said "it's in your forms, look it up"

then she called the agency and said I was being rude and they should not hire me again.

I wanted to stay professional but I thought "I am not gonna be bossed around by a bitch. no fucking way"
especially since I read somewhere a few days ago "never take shit from anybody" I guess I wanted to practice that mindset?

do you think I did the right thing here? who is the bitch here, me or the manager? be honest.

You should've said firmly that the doctor sent you outside and referred her to the doctor inside with the patient.

This is what happens when women are promoted beyond their ability. And also why men make better managers. Women trivialise and emotionalise everything.

You were unprofessional. So was she. I would have stayed professional and brought the matter up with her superior .

She took control over your emotions . Stay in control and you will always win.

But sometimes it's not possible to stay in control, we all have outbursts and lose control of our emotions. I would take it as a learning experience

Frame control. She was owning the frame when you felt that there was no other choice than to go back in the room. Had you had control of the frame you could have possibly responded in a calm yet confident manner, "she is changing in the room right now. I told her to knock on the door when she is done." And then later could have stated "the doctor told me to stand out here while he examines the patient." However sometimes it's easier to analyze this stuff as a monday morning quarterback because it can obvi be a challenge when someone is all up in your face like that.

There's a way not to take shit and stay professional. It does not sound like that's what you did.

If you'd have said "I came out here because the patient was changing and I wanted to give her some privacy - I'm about to go back inside" that likely would have been the end of it.
