First date - how to greet & say goodbye

So I have a date with this girl I met online. This will be the first time I meet her. I'm gonna be picking her up from her work then we're gonna walk to the river and get a drink.

Just need some advice on how should I greet her when we first meet. Hug? A simple 'hey' and touch on the arm? Fake kiss to cheek?

I'm based in London, England btw so the culture is a bit different to America.

Need some advice please. Thanks.

look her in the eye until she looks away, give her a coy smile, make some non-supplicating situational comment, then direct her to where she should sit. If you do that your way ahead of 95% of first time online daters.

I find it safer for newbies to avoid any initial handshaking or hugging

Why? I think it's a great excuse to break the touch barrier, especially for newbies!

Hey man,

The more you can get done on initial contact the more that will be done during the date.

When meeting a girl is your job to set the pace.. Is this going to be some distant, reserved, lets take our time date - or a full on open, fun, exciting time.

Greet her with a warm hug and a kiss on the cheek.. This gets the ball rolling in the direction you would like the date to be in.

Use the intro as a metaphor for what the future will be.

You want distance - greet with distance

You want closeness - greet with closeness

I was thinking of the Duck Song, but that works too :D

Btw, I agree with post #2 that when you first start, less early touching is better. Though touching isn't complicated, if it feels forced at all, it creeps the girl out. And if you creep her out within the first minute, you're in for an awkward early date that's difficult to turn around. Save the touching for once you've got her actively engaged in talking and enjoying your company.

Because new guys with weak inner game tend to make physical contact needy, supplicating, and/or creepy. my goal when I first meet a girl is not to comfort her or try to push physical contact before qualification. Kino is a double edged sword and must be handled well.

I realize this view is antithetic to the majority of the PUA community, but this has been my experience over a long time.

I agree with you, but if newbies understand and get a good inner game, I think they should go and break the touch barrier.
