I was having a cig outside. A very attractive brunette with spandex, tight shirt, and sunglasses stopped as she was passing me by. She asked me for a light and gave me a big smile, "thank you" after she lit up.

1) was she trying to get me to talk to her or did she actually need a light? I know that's prolly situational to an extent but maybe a percentage answer is best (i.e. 40% she was hitting on you or 80% she just wanted a light etc...).

2) was that just a failed opportunity on my part to hit on her?

I think the reality is that I just pussed out.

If she felt comfortable enough to ask you for a light, you had an opportunity. Especially since she needed something from you, always make her earn the light.

Oh man. I didn't even realize that angle. I was sort of chasing her (in my mind) by giving her the lighter when I should've had her chasing me (by at least giving me her name).

I agree. I might do that "say hello to every girl you see on the street" thing for a few days to get the nerves back in the right place.
