I've been out of the game a couple years getting my music degree. I graduate next week and am thus coming out of retirement. I'm 28 and I've been in the game since 2006. Oh, and a word of advice. The Movement Festival is coming to Hart Plaza May 24th. Regardless of your feelings about electronic music(I personally don't care for it), you should definitely go. Hundreds of thousands of people over three days, and everyone is in a very social mood. It's by far the easiest place I've ever gamed; I typically leave the weekend with 40+ numbers. So if you're looking for a way to ease into game, you couldn't ask for a better place.
