Hey guys. I realize that there is a post stickied in the forum regarding the SMT (Straw Man Technique)

I read through every page of the post though and didnt feel like I got my answer. Basically, I want to try it out, because I have never used the technique before, and I was just wondering...

When you use the technique, should there be any hint of sarcasm in your voice, or should the girl actually 100% fully believe that you believe what you're saying by way of flattery towards her boyfriend?

Also, I know that there are quite a few ways to dive into the SMT. Different variations that you can come up with and make on your own. Being a noob with this technique though, I kind of don't know which way to go exactly...

Theres the, "Wow, it must be great to have somebody who also thinks of you" and/or "It must be nice to have somebody who does all those sweet things for you"

And then, I read some poster wrote what I like to call a more "refined" strawman.

Basically saying “It’s always great when you find someone who you know you can marry. The kind of person who’s reliable, trustworthy, and has their act together.”

I thought that was pretty good, ^^^ But I've never done this technique, sooo I don't really know?

Anyway, a second opinion would be nice. I know I'm over thinking this a bit, but I'm excited to see if the technique is all it's cracked up to be...

that right there is good. No i don't think your supposed to be sarcastic, as sarcasim prob shows defensiveness.

Yea I figured that. Thanks for the response. Btw, do you think the example above that I gave is better than this one?... "It must be really nice to have someone who's always thinking of you..."

Either way, no matter which one I use, I was gonna follow it up with, "I bet he randomly surprises you with your favorite flowers, and gives you back rubs after a long day..."

I thought this one was great too... "I bet you're like his little princess that he would go to the ends of the earth for to satisfy, no matter how silly the desire. That's cute... (I feel like this one would take a lot of balls and be harder to pull off though...)

Can you give me any suggestions?

no the one you had sounds to vague, the follow up is kinda good though. Just use the marry one cause it reminds her that "am i really gonna marry this guy?".

No i can't think of nothing for you man, i'm only on the phase where i can get a few numbers once in awhile but i blow it on the date where they don't feel attraction to me all of a sudden. I got alot of field approaches tho so i'm not totally bad.

Just do what we all do and say something clever to respond to that (he can bring us breakfast in the mornings, theres plenty on the web) and if she doesn't budge move on, she could honestly have a pretty good relationship with him.

the stm is basically for advanced teqniques i think, so i probably won't use it or think of it for quite some time

Btw, what happens if the technique works and she starts shitting on her boyfriend right in front of you? Do you just change the subject?, cause I could easily do that and move on to something else...

What do you do once you get to that point? Help would be appreciated.
