I often approach girls that are walking towards me on the street. I dont know if I am doing something wrong but I have never been successful. This is how I do it:

girl is coming toward me, I am going toward her. we get closer. closer. closer. Then I ask a question. These are actual questions I have asked in the past:
"why is your hair so black?"
"why are you wearing blue?"
"hey, do you know of any good websites for porn?"
sometimes it's just a statement
"hey, you look cute, I wanna talk to you"

there are girls who won't answer and just pass by. forget those.

Then there are girls that are nicer and will answer, but they won't stop. my goal is to get them to stop moving, but they say their answer WHILE WALKING by me. so for example, today I asked a girl "why is your hair so black?" she said "because I dyed it" while walking past me. I pretended I didn't hear her to get her to stop, I said "because what?" she CONTINUED WALKING and said again "because I dyed it"

I just dont understand what I am doing wrong. when I do this, I dont block their way. I stand to the side, giving them an option to walk away if they want. Should I be blocking their way? or are my questions bad? or people just dont like to talk to strangers on the street?

You've gotta get right infront of them. Like make her run into you if she doesn't stop. (I like to do that to girls who are texting and walking) Almost to the point of where you might scare them a little bit... Then back off... And say "Hi "

Did someone advise you to use those lines? They sound stupid IMO.

The title of the thread was a bit misleading. I was expecting something like "pull over, roll down your window and ask how much for half an hour"

And I agree, those lines are lame.
