She is three years older then me with kids. She doesn't want me to be a father figure or anything. But for those of you who have and experience in situations, like this are there any cure balls that I should be expecting?

Three years is nothing unless you're 17, 18 or 19 in which case do yourself a favour and walk away from it now. If you're older yourself, like 25+ and don't have a problem with kids then there's nothing wrong unless she has some seriously crazy baggage with the ex.
