so there's this girl that's been riding the same bus route as i do. today she sat down behind me (not because she likes me) and i started a conversation with her. we talked for the whole 40 minutes it took to get to our destination, and it went pretty well. the problem is, she's 20 (turns 21 in a few months) so i can't invite her to the bars to hang out, and neither of us have a car so it's going to be pretty hard to get her to meet up with me to do other things. i didn't ask her for her number, not that i was too shy or anything, i just thought i'd be coming off too strong if i put myself in a position to have to call/text her all the time when i'm going to be seeing her a lot anyways.

now the question is, do i get her number next time and try to get her to come drink at my place or something, or would it be smoother to just talk to her whenever i see her on the bus until she actually wants to hang out with me?
i'm 25 btw so the age difference isn't too bad

Perhaps talk about movies and figure out one you both haven't seen. try and get a meet together where you say something along the lines of "I'll buy the movie, drink and popcorn and you can provide the cinema". You could have a date at her place. I'm sure she'd be much more at comfort at hers. But this is only a suggestion.

Don't worry, asking for a number is almost never "coming on too strong". That's a very minor thing and most women think nothing of it.

Now, having her over for drinks immediately might be coming on a little too strong since she doesn't know you very well outside of random girl chat on the bus. Get her number, give her a call that night (or the next day depending on what your schedule is like), then meet her out for late-night appetizers. THEN have her come back to your place for drinks. Then you can fuck.

none of us have a car though so movies/appetizers are out of the question unless we go on the bus during the day. which is lame

If you don't have any form of transportation then you'll either have to settle for public transportation or walking. Surely there's a way around this issue considering millions of people are in your same position and still make it work.
