Hi all, this is my first post here.

So I have an issue. I met this girl through my guitar teacher, her name is J. I'm absolutely floored with her, very pretty and has an artsy side. The problem is I cannot think of a smooth and non-threatening way to approach her. I have very weak social proof with her, because the only time we cross paths is when she shows up at the teachers house before her lesson. I'm sitting in my teachers basement, she shows up a little bit early, I say bye to my teacher and he starts his lesson with her, this happens every week so anything I say to her will basically be in front of him. I'm 21, she's 22, the guitar teacher is about 40. I've only gotten somewhat alone with her once…when I needed her to move her car out of the drive way -_- .

I've been racking my brain on this for weeks, usually I can come up with something…halp...

Leave an item of your belonging behind, like your wallet, and then return to your teacher's house at the time she should be finishing her lesson with the excuse of picking up your wallet.
Then you start talking to her outside of the house. If you have a car and she has parked her car in the driveway then park yours behind hers so that you need to move it before she can leave.
Start talking to her about how long she's been learning with this teacher and how often she practices and what she finds most challenging. Then suggest you two start practicing together because you'd love to spar with someone else.
If there is a coffee shop close by suggest you two go and grab a coffee then. Dont' get too wind up about it. If she says she can't do coffee then suggest to do it the following week.

No two people spar when playing guitar.

That said. Use the 3 second rule.
If you count to three in your head before you do something- you're gonna over think it and fuck it up.

The best way to approach her, is the way YOU would approach her. If you're shy, be a little shy. If you're an overbearing asshole, be an overbearing asshole. You play it off like you're someone you're not- she will find out. And quick.

I don't really agree, I think I'll take Onda's advice when I have time. I think if I run in without a plan I'll just flounder and fuck up. It'd be easier if I didn't think I actually had a shot.
