I actually think that one would actually work better if instead a cooler cellphone, you'd take out one of those classic nice Nokias, with black and white screens.

It doesn't matter. You're opening on them. You're drawing them in. You're creating interest. You've just made them invested by calling their phone a piece of shit. That's going to stir some emotions up and you can always turn it around after the opener and be like "It's not that bad" or "I'm just kidding, i've seen worse." Point is the opener is what it is. It's an opener, it's easy to use and it's quite neutral and demonstrates DHV given the fact that in todays society mobile phones are a form of social status much like a rolex back in the early 00s was.

You know what an old shitty physical number pad phone says to a person? Drug dealer. You know what a top of the line smartphone says to a person? Importance. Money. Someone who takes pride in what they have/wear. It's even better if their phone is a top of the line phone but differing brand. You can discuss it and take differing opinions. If it gets too serious in mid-game just break from it and distract her she'll want to move to happier conversations and feel instantly more at ease with you after you give her a c/f line and gives you freedom to refer back to her "shit phone" and joke about it.

I'm sure money works, but it's not game. You could park a Lamborghini in front of the club and you wouldn't probably need a word to put a HB in there. Still not game. Still bragging.

It's a phone. Get over it.

Here's an opener that I came up with which could be a DHV at the same time:

I have 2 watches. One looks pretty good but cost me £5.48 new on ebay. The other one is a Maurice Lacroix that I inherited from a relative which is worth about £1200.

So I wear both of them-one on each wrist. Then I ask a girl if she can tell me which one is worth more as I'm trying to see if most of the value in valuable watches comes from the brand without providing much increase in quality. Whether she gets it wrong or right, I then proceed to tell her that the Maurice Lacroix is the more expensive one and I received it as a gift from Richard Branson when I was his investment manager (that's just a DHV I made up!). The watch was a bonus to say thank you for the good job I did for him.

Two problems I encountered with this was that a girl asked me why I wear 2 watches, so I said "because I have investment clients in New York and so I need a watch for New York time as well as London time since I call them so often."

The second problem is that a lot of girls haven't heard of Richard Branson, so I think next time I'll just change it to Bill Gates as he's more famous.

Amazingly, it still apparently works often enough. You know, even if it's only 25% - if you try often enough, you get results.
Also, it's not as easy as that, to "just socialize", for many men - these are helpful tips, not strict manuals, to make the first steps.
Instead of seeing PUAs as assholes, try understanding that MANY begin as very lonely men, many "nice guys", who try really really hard and get nothing, so they come here for help. Don't hate

I used to open almost all my cold approaches with

"Hey, are you friendly?"

its non threatening, its a qualifier, it disarms them, and its different (contrary to popular belief it doesnt get you friendzoned)

but now i use the slightly modified version:

"hey are (you/you guys) friendly or mean?"

it does all the same as the first one but its more playful. if they say they are mean say

"well that sucks for you because i eat mean girls for breakfast!"

if one girl is mean and one is nice you can just tell the mean one that youre not going to talk to her unless she changes her attitude, then talk to the nice one while the mean one gets jealous

"Hey, I was with my buddy's girlfriend last week. She was making out with another girl. Do you think that's cheating?"
