Out in a club, some HB8 is checking me out all night right across from me with her friend. I'm with friends, laughing, messing and not really taking anything serious when I first catch her eyeing my up. I know she's interested so I force an IOI and lock eye contact. She returns it then breaks after five seconds and starts smiling to her friend. Same thing happens three times then I go up to her and say "Hey, how's your night?" Nothing. She just blanks and ignores me. I persist, touch her back and say "You're too shy? Not going to say Hi?" Again, nothing. She just smiles and slightly turns away. I walk away.

What the fuck? Was this a shit test or could I have misconstrued the situation? When I caught her checking me out it was at different times with different people around me and no other guy behind me.

She liked you but something might have happened from when you locked eye contact and approached. Usually it's better to go on the first time you lock eye contact and then go over and simply say "Hey, what's your name?"

I've found that if I wait it out after three IOIs I can get the woman to approach me. It works well for me in most cases but I only really do that when I know the woman is confident(HB8^) and has guys hitting on her all the time. I guess i've taken to being lazy. I suppose it doesn't help that a guy from another group beside mine hit on the girl five minutes before I said hi but I still want to know where I went wrong exactly so I can improve on it. Next time i'll just go in and follow the three second rule.
