I think I'm in a situation even worse than the friendzone

Am I missing the silver lining here, or is this situation just generally terrible and I should just move on?

I liked the girl. Got friendzoned, strangely kept hanging out though. Because of this, ALL of our mutual friends thought we were going out as did I for a while. She is confusing that way. In the end she said something along the lines of I was "thinking we were something that we were not" - so not only was i friendzoned but I thought we were going out and there was some kind of connection that she clearly didn't feel (either never or it died somewhere). That was four months ago. I haven't seen her since.

I clearly got friendzoned but the bit about "thinking we were something that we were not"... does that just make it worse and i should just move on or is there some kind of silver lining here? I think this is possibly worse than the friend zone.

Any help would be appreciated.

I would suggest that you just move on, you've known her for awhile and it seems like it isn't going anywhere. Much better to start a new one from scratch IMO.

I will give you a tip that I personally use (I've talked to a lot of experienced guys that disagree with this so I'm not saying you have to do it this way).....but if I think there is even a chance she might be thinking of putting me in the friend zone.....I always say something along the lines of "I don't want to be just friends, I'm too attracted to you for that". The reason most of my brethren disagree with this is their perspective is that you shouldn't have to verbalize this, because if you have your non-verbal game and vibe right.....it shouldn't be an issue. While I agree with them on this, I still prefer to verbalize it because it's just my style and I like to do it that way. This is something that needs to be done early in the relationship though, this isn't something you should spring on someone you've known for a long time. It's to prevent it from happening in the first place.

Move on. But since you are in the friendzone, keep her close. Might come in handy to make other gorls jealous, or she may change her mind one day. Don't keep your hopes high, though.

This is a logical answer, but way too difficult for many men to deal with (the emotional damage etc.)
