Are negs a misunderstood concept?

It seems as if everyone think that negs are negative comments, like insults, and the common recommendation is to not neg girls. But if you look at video clips with Mystery (the founder of the term) if there are any left on youtube, you will see that...

1. They are just mischiveous and tesing comments. The girls think they are fun and/or interesting.
2. He is negating positive things as in "we will not get along", and by doing that suggesting the positive, "we will get along".

Any thoughts and comments about this?

Depends on the neg type. Shotgun, sniper and the others that I forget.

Some of them are fine but others tend to just put the woman down and make her feel self conscious. It's true though, some people just see a neg as a general term for "putting a woman down" when that's not always the case.

I've see tons of people mis-use and fail at using negs; a lot of them don't take the time to refine it and try using it as a entry level technique when they just get into pua, while I (if I do say so myself) have a slightly better understanding of negs I still don't tend to use them as much as one might think

The problem is the delivery, not the words.

I've seen people, including me, insulting others in a funny way. On the other hand, I've seen some people (including my ex-roommate) use tons of negs on girls and get flaked away in seconds. I've heard them talk behind his back without knowing that I was his roommate.

Negs have to come out from you in a way that would make girls curious, not insulted.

Yeah. Women need to want you around, not feel intimidated by you or down in your presence. If you're firing negs everywhere you're doing it wrong. A neg is a response, not a stimuli. Use a neg if a woman seems like she's up on her horse and she actually needs to be put down a peg or two(As she's doing to you with her demeanour but you use passive aggressive words).
