Hi,
I'm new to all of this.
Im a bassist in a duo, but I seem to be lost as to what to do with the opportunities I'm getting.
When I'm playing, I'm now quite good at picking up ioi's and am recognising quite a few. A lot of the communication is then non verbal dances and smiles while I'm on stage from both me and them. When I finish, these girls will normally come up to me and say something along the lines of 'that was great, I really enjoyed it', but then I end up just saying thanks and it ends up being a really short conversation, even though I know they're interested in me.
Tonight was the tipping point where I've realised I need some help! I played a gig and there was a girl smiling at me most the time I was playing. She would even walk off from her friends who were sat at the other end of the venue, to watch us play on her own. She then rushed over the second I'd finished to say how much she loved it and I just said thanks

. Then she was with her friends the rest of the night and I didn't know how to approach her there, so I didn't, but she did pass by again and shook my hand, held on and said how much she enjoyed it again. Then just as she was leaving, I caught her eye and she came over, gave me a really long hug, kissed my hand and said good-bye and by then it was too late as all her friends were waiting for her.
I'm now kicking myself over how I handled this and realised I need some help!
As I'm gigging quite a lot and in this situation a fair amount (where girls who have shown interest will approach me and congratulate me after playing), I know that I can run the same routine over and over, but I'm not sure what to say.
1) Does anyone know the best thing to say when I'm congratulated in order to turn it into a conversation and a few scripted lines I could use?
2) And does anyone have some scripted lines I could use when approaching a group of girls in which one of them has shown ioi's while I've playing.
Thanks in advance
