| If she doesn't have a story of her own after yours, you don't want to keep telling story after story obviously....that would just be too much talking on your part and she would most likely be bored. So you have to get her talking.
I don't think its a problem to switch topics, if you do it carefully. What else are you going to do anyway, stay on that topic that she is obviously not interested in and cannot relate to? (because of her lack of a response) You NEED to switch asap, before you completely lose her.
The key is to switch topics in a careful way. If its a story about something you like to do for instance, you can be like "but enough about me, what do you do for fun?" So you aren't DRASTICALLY switching topics, but you are tying together your story with a chance for her to switch the topic to something more interesting to her.
Also, you really should try to steer the conversation towards relationships. This gets ALL women interested. Then you can tell any story you want and afterwards she'll either have something to say, or you can ask her "so what do you value in a relationship," or something to that effect.
In other words, try to tell stories that are going to help you reach a goal, by directing the woman's mind towards the topic of LOVE, RELATIONSHIP, SEX, ect. If you are telling stories about NASCAR, don't expect a positive response from most women. Even if they somehow like NASCAR, I promise you could've gotten a better reaction by talking about love or relationships.
