If that's rude, then almost every pickup is rude. But honestly, if she really had to be some where or do something, then she'd do that thing where she stutters for a second while looking away from you, and then she'd walk right around you or go back to her computer. I think the reason most day gamers go with the direct approach is because it takes the situation from helping a random stranger (which nobody really wants to do) to receiving praise and complements. They think, "Okay. This is better than youtube." So you hold their attention.
