However, on topic, I believe that PUA makes use of some very well established psychological concepts that does legitimately help in game. Fundamentally, PUA is about establishing your perceived value as being above that of the female you're trying to seduce, which not always the case in reality, but that's the whole point of PUA. Everything else is just minutia. Some tactics are useful, most are not. If I had to mention the best ones, they'd be 1. know when to push and know when to pull. and 2. know what to ignore and when. Given enough experience, you will arrive at the same broad patterns and strategies taught in PUA. This is merely a modest shortcut/tool so that people don't spend a lifetime making mistakes before they learn what they did wrong, but requires no shortage of practice and experience.

What PUA is not, is a book of sorcery that will help fat acne ridden socially retarded WoW dudes score models. Until you look presentable (you don't need to be Brad Pitt, but if you're a hideous slob, you're limited in the girls you can successfully game), and until, most importantly, you develop global social skills, PUA will not help you. If you're not able to easily make friends with guys, you will probably fail hard with scoring girls. PUA is just a cherry on top of the self improvement steps you need to take before you'll be able to get with the girls of the caliber you want (appearance, social status, conversational skills (MOST important) ). Probably the biggest benefit from PUA, really, is that it pushes people to go and approach women, and learn to be good at it through experience. In reality, a lot of these gurus completely contradict each other in so many teachings, to the point that the only thing they seem to agree on is that you should approach more women.

There are some people that make a cult of PUA, and they tend to be creepy as fuck in real life (met a couple. look for fedoras). I don't imagine they get laid much, but its not because PUA is successful or unsuccessful. It's because they're creeps with no social skills, so their only hope to get laid is to put all their eggs in to the PUA basket, and if you doubt that its the complete solution to all their problems, you threaten their only hope, and they'll attack you with the zeal of a cultist. But in reality, if you're an acne ridden chump with a gut and no friends, what is a NORMAL PUA coach going to tell you? He'll give you the practical, sane advice: hit the gym, make some friends, buy some acne cream, get some ambitions. THEN you'll benefit from the tricks and tips that will help improve your success with women. They're not the magic bullet some claim they are.
