A question I use alot when meeting new people, is their musical preferances, this way I can see if we have anything in common in this area and build on it. I normally ask them first, and then build on their response.

Yesterday I asked this female her favorite musical choice and I hadn't heard any songs by them, so couldn't build on it much, should I have lied and pretended I had heard some of their songs and enjoyed them?

Also she asked me and I said I like all genres however I am currently listening to alot of rap, and she didn't enjoy rap music, which seems to be the case with alot of people I talk too. Next time should I not mention rap music at all but mention my other favourite which is trance music? That way it might go down better?

Simple question I know. What do you do?

Okay, I get where you are going with this...

This is something I will bring up most of the time too. I love music. (Check out Bubble Butt by Major Lazer with 2 Chainz, Bruno Mars and Tyga by the way if you like rap. Songs a banger.) Anyways, Here is what you do when a girl mentions an artist you don't know anything about...

Say.... "Would I know any of their songs?" or "Tell me how the song goes." or something along those lines... Relate EVERYTHING BACK TO YOU. This way, it doesn't seem like you are asking her for the purpose of a "job interview." You are asking her for your own self amusement. This will give her an opportunity to get to know who you are and ask questions about you and what you like.

Cool okay, I did this in the convo with a female yesterday. I asked her to name a song I might know, however I need to take this further next time and ask her to hum it or something for my amusement. Glad to know I did okay.
