Made a cool new approach which seems to work very well (It was field tested). I would come into a set of girls pretending to be foreign with very little English. I would walk and ask really boring questions about what sites to see, talked about the weather. All the small talk imaginable. The conversation would obviously soon dry up. I used a foreign accent too. Anyways, when the conversation dried up the girls would just look at each other feeling awkward not knowing what to say. And i would simply just stay there just to make it more awkward. They would normally say things like "haha i dont know what to say". Then when the moment is right, usually a few seconds after the not knowing what to say comment i would surprise them by saying " I was just joking guys haha" Id explain and everyone would laugh. 4 out of the 5 groups i tested it on laughed , the other group got playfully angry. They all seemed pleased and entertained by this. I found this to be a really good opener. Worked out well in all cases. Something different as well. It does require a bit of acting and keeping a straight face.
