When you ask someone for something, they want to know why you want it. It probably has to do with the parent-child relationship, with the parent wanting to school the child on correct decision making. A study was done at a library, where a woman wanted to cut in line to make copies.

"Can I cut in front of you? I need to make some copies."

Only 60% allowed her to cut in front. When she gave a reason that she was in a hurry, there was a 33% increase in compliance.

"Can I cut in front of you because I'm in a hurry?"

Here's the interesting part...she got the same results by using the word "Because" without adding any new information.

"Can I cut in front of you? I need to make some copies because I need to make some copies."

Here's the rule: When you are asking a girl for compliance, make sure you use the word "Because". Example: "You need to suck my cock right now, because you need to suck my cock right now." :)

Compliance using because. Interesting. Although I'm a little confused. How does saying the same thing twice but with because make it anymore convincing, or was that just an example?

I think the OP is saying that some sort of survey was done.
example 25 people tested without using word because, 25 tested with the added word.


But I've heard 68.25% of all statistics are made up, because it's the cool thing to do.

Correct, it was "Influence" by Cialdini.

Saying the same thing twice was what was used as the test case. By saying the same thing twice - merely giving a reason (using the word 'because') but not adding any new information, resulted in the same compliance rate.

I would think good use of this in mid-game would be compliance for a bounce. I was at the bar a couple of nights ago, talking to a girl. My goal was to get her to invite me to her place early in the evening. A band showed up, and we could no longer communicate. I still didn't have an invite to her place, but I knew she wanted to run an errand so I said, "Let's get out of here, because I can't hear you and I want to talk." She was confused that I wanted to leave so early, but it worked. Ran the errand, came back to the parking lot to pick up her car and I left her with no other options but to invite me over or end the night.
